Your original Toyota Avalon fuel pump has the all-important job of pulling gas from your tank and sending it up your fuel line and into your fuel rail. There, your fuel injectors spray the fuel into your engine cylinder, where it mixes with air. A spark from your spark plugs ignites it, and as a result, your sedan runs on its own power. A DC motor in the pump assembly powers the process. Of course, if you're driving an older Toyota Avalon with a factory mechanical fuel pump, your engine, and not a DC motor, will move a pump lever up and down as your camshaft spins. This creates suction, whose action transfers fuel. Whether your fuel pump is mechanical or electric, however, many other auto parts work with it. For example, there's a filter on the end of every pump that prevents impurities in your gas from getting into the fuel line. That's your fuel filter. Secondly, there's a fuel float with an arm attached to it that signals your fuel gauge, which, in turn, informs you of how much gas is left in your tank. Yet another electrical resistor submerged in your fuel tells your Low Fuel Warning light to turn on when it's exposed to air; that's how it can tell when you're extremely low on gas. So, how long do OEM fuel pumps last? Anywhere from 100,000 to as many as 200,000 miles. Signs you need to replace your fuel pump include a faltering, surging, or squealing engine, a reduction in fuel efficiency, or if you just plain can't start your car. Luckily, our auto parts counter will have what your project calls for. You can order genuine Toyota Avalon fuel pumps online, right from us. Browse our wide selection and buy now!
