Your Toyota Prius headlights have many uses. Low-beams are for everyday driving, and high-beams are for extreme dark. They even work as hazard lights, flashers that can not only signal distress but also tell other drivers you've got a problem or there's a dangerous situation nearby. Some headlights also have low-glare fog lights. These are great for when you're driving in bad weather. Whatever lights your Toyota Prius has, however, they'll be one of three kinds. Halogen is commonest in smaller cars. If your car has narrower housings, it might have Xenon, also called high-intensity discharge (HID). LED, you can find in many newer hybrids. They don't heat up too much, and they're energy-efficient. When to change a car light bulb depends on what type it is. Change a Xenon headlight as it weakens, roughly every three years. Change an LED headlight if it burns out or its electronics stop working. Change a halogen headlight every two years or so.
