The OEM tail lights on your Toyota Prius show the drivers behind you where you are on the road and off, not to mention how far ahead of them you are. Daytime running lights or DRLs are good examples. They also indicate your position to others, but they do it a little better during daylight hours. However, they aren't the only types of tail lighting your hybrid can have from the factory. Signal lights are one instance. They're blinkers that show a turn or a lane change. Brake lights are another. They show that you're slowing or stopping. Hazard lights, however, are a function rather than a distinct light: they're flashers that warn of problems or dangerous situations nearby. They can even tell other drivers that you're in distress.

When Do I Replace the Tail Lights on My Toyota Prius?

That depends. Whatever tail lamps your car has, its bulbs are probably one of three types, either halogen, high-intensity discharge -- HID, for short (also called Xenon), or LED. They all dim and begin flickering sooner or later, blowing if not burning out when their filaments approach the end of their lives. If your car has Xenon bulbs, replace them when they get weaker. If it has LED bulbs, replace them if they go out, or if their electronics die. If it has halogen, replace them every two years or so. You can order the best tail lights for a Toyota Prius right here online -- our auto parts department has what you need. We sell only genuine OEM, too, so they'll come fitting the hybrid you love to drive from the start. So, save some project time -- buy now!
