You've probably checked out the wheels on your Toyota Sienna enough times to notice what kind of hubcaps it has. Usually, it's one of two: full-size, which are often also called wheel covers, and smaller, which are called center caps, cap inserts, or wheel caps. The former usually snap on or bolt to the wheel, covering both its hub and fasteners, while the latter cover only the wheel's center.
Hubcaps are different from rims, too. A rim is just a wheel's outer edge. Unlike a hubcap, it's almost always steel or alloy construction, and its job is to hold a tire firmly to the wheel. Plus, to change a rim, you have to change its wheel.
Hubcaps, however, have a couple jobs -- concealment and protection. They hide a wheel hub's center and its lug nuts, and they keep moisture and dirt off of spindle nuts. They do both for wheel bearings. Best of all, though, they offer a more stylish look, showing off your Toyota brand pride, your model's name, even sometimes the Toyota logo. Plus, they're easy to replace when they get bent, crack, or break. You can even do it simply because your style preferences have changed.
